Virgin material

In the production process  only virgin copper and zinc are utilized. Difficulties by lead or other impurities are therefore minimized. This ensures both peak and stable performance of the EDM wire – exactly the reliability that is required in wire-EDM.

Surface finish

During the wire-EDM process the aim is to work “trouble free” and realize high cutting rates and smooth discharges. This will result in an excellent surface finishing without undesired surprises. At Exigo high-density material drawn to mirror polished dies offer an exceptional and flawless surface finish. The in-house developed cleaning equipment ensures absolutely clean wire, spool after spool.

Non-paraffin

Paraffin coated wires are not a good match with the sensitive edge finding systems of modern wire EDM machines. Therefore by default at Exigo no paraffin is used during the production process. However on request a paraffin coating can be added.

Straightness

Especially when applying auto-threading, it is crucial that a wire is straight – that is where a continuous production process relies on. Every spool of wire produced at Exigo is subject to a thorough straightening process. This assures the highest possible auto-threading rates.

Dimensional precision

In many cases the tolerance when cutting a workpiece are extremely narrow. Even a small deviation in the wire dimension, could result in exceeding this tolerances. Therefore at Exigo laser equipment is used to maintain dimensional precision within the closest tolerances. The result is extremely accurate cuts when processing the wire.

Packaging

Exigo wire is always spooled onto new, black, high quality spools. The loose end of the wire is fixated on the spool flange with a re-usable sticker. Because sometimes wire is stored over a longer period, a special anti-oxidation paper is used to protect the outer surface. This make sure that even after a longer stocking period the cutting speed will not be compromised. Each spool is individually sealed airtight with strong clear PET sleeves.  
Spools are shipped in special cardboard boxes. The boxes are strong enough to prevent damage during transport and storage. Moreover the box design prohibits spools standing upright (this would have a negative influence smooth unwinding of the wire).

Private label

Exigo exclusively sells wire to private label customers. That is why, although its high production volume, you never see an Exigo branded spool in the field.
